H: Hey, what do you need to tell me?
Me: I don't need to tell you anything. How is camp?
H: Good.
Me: Are you having fun?
H: Yes Mam. OK Bye.
Me: Wait... tell me what classes you are in.
H: Basketball and Baseball
Me: Are you using sunscreen? ( big deal cause he got really burnt last year)
H: Yes Mam. OK Bye.
Me: Wait.. tell me about camp... did you get up ok today ...etc....
H: Mom...... It's my FREE TIME! I will call you later!
Me: (agitated) Ok bye.
My heart was broken. My baby clearly was having too much fun to talk to mom. Wednesday night the phone rang again...
H: (with excitement) Hey Mom! Whatcha doin'?
Me: Just got home from church. How's it going?
H: It's awesome!
Me: Are you enjoying Jeff Slaughter leading the worship?
H: Oh mom, he's awesome. And the camp pastor is awesome too. He explains it so good!
Me: That's great! What did he talk about tonight?
H: I don't remember... but it was AWESOME!
Obviously made a HUGE impact on him, right? I was chuckling under my breath! I asked him if anyone made him call home. His reply was that Mrs. Susanna talked to them during group time about calling home. ( She knew about our earlier conversation. )
I've tried to use this week to do some cleaning out and organizing. I seriously need to get in his room before he gets home tommorrow.
Things have been coming along at the house. They are starting to put the beams (don't know what they are technically called) across the top, preparing for the second floor.
