It's My Party

So to follow up the last sappy post reflecting on the last 365 days of our life, a PARTY was in order.  You will be shocked I am sure, but I have thought about what this day would look like for at least the last 9 months.  About 6 months ago, I thought I had the "theme" picked out.  But the closer it got I was unsettled.  Should I go with the pink/green girly theme or embrace the fact that she has a fall birthday; Halloween no less, thus the name "Pumpkin".  I finally decided that the Pumpkin theme was the thing to do, but I wanted it girly too.

So I found these invitations on Etsy and loved it because it had the hot pink, orange and brown.  Now to pull it all together!

Our original plans were to set up on our back porch, but with a high of only 60 and 15-20 mph winds, we decided to keep it indoors at the last minute.  I honestly didn't know exactly how I would set it all up, but it came together nicely with just a few minutes to spare, literally!

Pumpkin had a great time and didn't get overwhelmed by it at all.  I scheduled it for noon so she would be fresh from her morning nap.

And she looked precious in the outfit I made her.  If you know me, you understand how much of a procrastinator I am.  Honestly, I don't put it off, but it takes me getting down to the wire to make decisions.  I really think it through, but I honestly work well under pressure.  I didn't find the fabric for this outfit until 2 days before the party.  I was specifically looking for orange and pink to mix with brown.  I made a trip 20 miles away to a fabric store only to find out it no longer existed.  So I headed back to my town and thankfully found the perfect fabric!

The cake... took my breath away and oh my was it yummy too!

Her smash cake

Pretzels we dipped

Mom did a great job arranging the fruit so pretty

Idea I found on online.

Her high chair got a bit of frou-frou for the day

Pictures of her birth-12 months on display behind food table.

What is that glowing thing?

Hey, Hey, do I see pumpkins on this cake?

Oh yes, pumpkins!! Let me see how they taste.

She had just fed me one of her pumpkins in this picture.

She never really got into her cake.  But she loved all the edible pumpkins. She was picking them off and shoving them in her mouth until she finally had a wad of them stuck to the roof of her mouth.

Pumpkin got a few presents, but we asked our guest to skip presents and donate to a fund for adoptive parents.  This will be earmarked for clients of our adoption consultants.   It won't be a huge donation, but every penny helps.

Her special day was perfect in every way.  We had about 45 people here to celebrate with us.  How blessed we are!

We love you baby girl and are proud that God choose you for us and us for you! Happy Birthday!
