North Carolina & Storms

Well, we made it to North Carolina tonight! The weather was great for the entire trip. When we got within 30 minutes of Wake Forest, we called Jim and Bonita to let them know we were getting close. As we talked, we were obviously headed for some heavy rain. As we talked to them, the clouds begin to move like I have never seen before. They were moving fast and in somewhat of a circular motion. I told Jim that it looked bad and it might take us a little longer than anticipated. We went through some very heavy rain and a lot of people were pulled off the road. We forged ahead at a slow pace. Jim called back about 20 minutes later to ask our location. Thankfully, we were within about 10 minutes of their house. They were calling to let us know that there was a tornado warning in the south part of the county. I truly think we saw the first stages of the tornado while we were on the interstate! (Check out the photos on the photo blog page.) When we arrived, we loaded everyone in our van (all during another torrential downpour) and headed to a steak house to eat. We very much enjoyed the food, and most of all the company. It was great to catch up a little bit with them. Afterwards, we enjoyed a quick drive on the seminary campus. We are going to tour a little bit again tommorrow before hitting the road again.
