It's hard to believe a whole month has gone by since my last post! My how time flies. We have been doing very well. Hayden started co-op classes the week we returned from our trip. He absolutely looks forward to it each week. He will be in a musical in a few weeks through the co-op group. He has a part that suits him perfectly!
As you know, Hayden has been playing football this year. His goal was to be a NFL player, but as he put it "Mom, I think I have changed my direction for my life". See, the thing is, football is obviously hard work. A little more than this sports fanatic wants for himself. After the 1st game they moved him to center, so he gets to touch the ball on every offensive play. This has sparked his interest some, but nonetheless, he has declared no more football.
His team has done exceptionally well. We went into our last game on Tuesday night with only 1 loss (which by the way, occurred while we were out of town, I'm sure if we had been there it would have been completely different :) At the end of Tuesday's game, the score was tied 0-0. Yes, you heard me correctly - no score! Both sides were playing amazing defense! We thought that surely in little league, this would be deemed a tie. Not so! Into OT we went! Did I mention it was raining and the temp was dropping? I won't bore you with the play by play details, but at the end of the 1st OT, the score was still tied. Thus a 2nd OT. The same went for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th OT. Now we did score in some of the OTs, but we continued to tie the game. The game ended in the 6th OT, when we were unable to complete the extra point. We lost 19-18! What a heart breaker!
As the players came off the field, the parents were so proud of them. We were cheering like they had just won the Super Bowl. It was extremely difficult to play in the rain, especially against such a good team. All-in all, they took it very well. A win would have secured 2nd place in our league and an automatic to the first ever PEANUT BOWL! Well, we still have a small chance to go, but it will involve a playoff against that team and one other. It all depends on the outcome of one game on Thursday.
I have to admit, I would be fine if the season is over for us. 2 hour practices, 3 nights a week can be rather tiring. But, I know that the boys want to do it so bad. We will just have to wait and see what happens next.
