I stumbled across Faith's Christmas Card Carousel and immediately decided I wanted to participate. Head on over to her blog and check out all the wonderful cards! I'm already getting ideas for next year.
I L.O.V.E. Christmas Cards.... do you hear me? I remember my mom receiving a card each December from a childhood friend and to this day they still keep it up. Otherwise, I don't remember Christmas Cards being a big thing at our house. We never sent them that I remember, except to my mom's friend. After we got married, we started receiving a few cards and I decided to send out cards. The first years was just a handful of cards, but now we send around 150. Our church has "Christmas Mailboxes" where we can give cards within our church family saving on postage. I'm like a kid in a candy store on Sunday morning as I see who gave us a card. I'm even known to sneak by during the week and pick up our cards so I don't have to wait! So Christmas Cards have become quite the big deal to me. I keep all the picture cards I receive and put them in a scrapbook each year. I love looking back over the years to see how kids have grown.
In the beginning it was a standard store card. Then sometime after H came along we started with the picture card with H's picture only. Over the last few years I decided that despite the fact that I loathe having a picture of myself, I should take family pictures. Mostly so H will have some family pics of us one day. Regardless of what type of card we send, I fret over our Christmas Cards every year. It has to be the right one!!! (Not that I'm a perfectionist or anything.) And now that I am addicted to digital scrap booking, well designing a card can take a while. Actually this year, I came up with something simple and designed the layout a couple of months back, since we were preparing to move. Not that it helped me get ahead or anything, the cards went in the mail today!
So anyway... our 2009 Christmas Card
And here's my sister's card I did as well:

And this year mom decided to do picture cards as well since we took family photos in the spring. I did this layout also.
