Just When I Need It...

It never ceases to amaze me how God speaks to me at the exact moment that I need it. The past few days I have just about lost hope.  Oh I still know very well that God is in control and has the perfect baby for us in just the perfect time, but quite honestly, I'm just not feeling it right now.  Its a very comfortable feeling to me unfortunately.  After 14 years of infertility, I've become accustomed to the "it's never gonna happen" attitude. But it's not where I want to settle;  I want my faith to be so big.  Please don't get me wrong, I so claim that He can do "exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ask or imagine" (Eph 3:20). But there are times that I grow weary.

This morning, in the midst of my self-pity, I received the following in my FB inbox.  It is from someone in our church family.  Please understand that this is someone I know, but not someone I am in constant contact with.  She would not have known how I have been feeling this week. She sent it to me and a mutual acquaintance of ours who is also waiting on an adoption. We have both been a little weary in our wait.

I have no idea how it is to be where you two are right now, waiting on children. I have waited on many many things in my time. I get this Marketplace Devotion each morning. It is designed for Christians out in the work force. I felt God wanted me to share it with you. It was very profound for me this morning as we are waiting waiting waiting on many many things that God is handling in our lives. I hope it help you as much as it did me! God Bless!!

The Isolation Chamber

"Be still and know that I am God...." Psalm 46:10

There is a time and place in our walk with God in which He sets us in a place of waiting. It is a place in which all past experiences are of no value. It is a time of such stillness that it can disturb the most faithful if we do not understand that He is the one who has brought us to this place for only a season. It is as if God has placed a wall around us. No new opportunities--simply inactivity.

During these times, God is calling us aside to fashion something new in us. It is an isolation chamber designed to call us to deeper roots of prayer and faith. It is not a comfortable place, especially for a task-driven workplace believer. Our nature cries out, "You must do something," while God is saying, "Be still and know that I am God." You know the signs that you have been brought into this chamber when He has removed many things from your life and you can't seem to change anything. Perhaps you are unemployed. Perhaps you are laid up with an illness.

Most religious people live a very planned and orchestrated life where they know almost everything that will happen. But for people in whom God is performing a deeper work, He brings them into a time of quietness that seems almost eerie. They cannot say what God is doing. They just know that He is doing a work that cannot be explained to themselves or to others.

Has God brought you to a place of being still? Be still and know that He really is God. When this happens, the chamber will open soon after.

Um... Wow! Was that exactly what I needed or what?  I am so glad she was obedient, because my Father knew how much I needed that today! I am not very good at "being still" and He knows that!  I always want to do something to get it done. Today it was if He put his arm around me and said 'I know it's hard right now, but hang on, I've got this.'

Dr. Tony Evans Twitter post today: God does some of His best work in the dark. When God seems silent, He is not still. Hang in there - He's there.
