4 weeks!

I've had such good intentions of updating this blog, but oh boy, have I fallen off the wagon!  I am remembering now how much time is consumed in having a little one!  I am not complaining, just having to adjust.

Welcome home signs in our driveway

Everything has been going great with Miss Priss, or maybe I should call her Miss Piggy! You heard me, the little piglet had a check up last week at 3 weeks old.  She had gained up to 7 lbs 5 oz! She was 5lbs 5 oz at one week so that is 2 lbs in 2 weeks!  We knew she was gaining because she moved out of her preemie clothes rather quickly.  She is now taking 4 oz of formula every 3 hours- if not sooner. At night she is sleeping about 4 hours a stretch. She does very well at taking her bottle and being changed and settling back down to sleep pretty quickly. For that we are very thankful! It's hard to believe that she was 4 weeks old on Sunday!  Time is passing so quickly already.

Two days after we got home our church hosted a baby shower for us.  It was such a fun time of celebration with a great host of family and friends who have walked this journey with us.  I was overwhelmed by it all! But the highlight of the weekend was on the night before the shower.  I headed into my sewing room to monogram a bib and burp cloth to match her outfit for the shower.  I heard someone pull up in the driveway and I assumed it was my sister and family, as she had hinted that they might come by.  I teasingly yelled out "Who is it?".  I heard J heading to open the door as he said "Come on in ".  Next thing I know, J is coming around the corner motioning to where I am.  Much to my surprise I look up to see our dear friend Kim standing in my hallway! She had driven over 4 hours to come for my shower!  I was so surprised that I immediately started screaming and jumping up and down! I only wish there had been video.  She talked a friend into driving down with her since her family couldn't come.  They had called J about an hour earlier to let him know they were in town and wanted to see if they could come by and surprise me!  It made the weekend even more special to have them here!
Kim and her friend Lindsey just after they surprised me!

Reading a sweet card about adoption that made me cry

opening many gifts

The gift table.  The canvas was a gift from several of the girls who hosted the shower! I love it!

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving week with family and friends.  Last week our church held its annual Thanksgiving meal and service.  When we got home from Florida our pastor dropped in to see us and asked if we would share our testimony at the Thanksgiving service.  How could we say no?  Truth is, God had already impressed on me the day before that we would be asked to share.  It wasn't an easy task for us. Neither of us are adept at public speaking, but I knew we must testify to the faithfulness of our Father.  The entire night was such a sweet time of praise and worship. I am so glad that we got the opportunity to share even if it was uncomfortable!

The Iron Bowl ( Alabama vs. Auburn) on the day after Thanksgiving is a huge deal around here. We are a house divided.  J and his dad are huge Bama fans, while H and I pull for Auburn. The big debate is who Miss Priss will pull for.  Of course I've done my part and she has plenty of orange and blue!  Before the game on Friday, I had some errands to run.  When I came home, J was reluctant to give her to me.  When he did, I discovered why.  He and some friends had adorned her onsie with and Alabama pin.  I, of course, took her to change immediately into something way more approrpriate!  Well all I can say is WAR EAGLE!  We pulled it off 28-27!

I LOVE the signs...especially the sheep.

As for your testimony....yes, it may not have been your cup of tea but someone that night needed a reminder of God's faithfulness. God used your family's adoption journey to speak comfort to that person.

God is good!!!
