Mother's Day

This Mother's Day was supposed to be so exciting for me.  I was finally the mother of two!  I couldn't wait to wear my beautiful corsage of hot pink roses and stand proudly in our worship center as they honored all the mothers in attendance.  I wondered if my heart would be heavy for our birth mom.  Last year I was overcome with emotion as I sat and pondered how somewhere in the world was a woman carrying a child that would be mine.  I wondered what she was going through in that very moment.  But alas, that was not how the day played out at all.

On Friday night I started getting sick and decided it would be best for Pumpkin and I to stay at home and rest on Sunday.  So my beautiful corsage still sits in my fridge. Oh well.  My family still came over to our house to eat and we picked up KFC as planned.  We decided last year that it was just too much to stand in line at a restaurant for over an hour to eat. It would have been way too hard with Pumpkin in tow,so we got carry out and just enjoyed our time together!

My sister, her boyfriend and I took a little time and headed out to our annual parade of home hosted by local home builders.  I never grow tired of looking at houses.  My sister was bored to death, but her boyfriend is a builder so he and I had a great time discussing what we liked/disliked. J stayed at home and kept the kids, which was a great mother's day present to me!

We spent the afternoon pretty low-key, but I really wanted to get a picture with the kids.  That in itself was a fiasco.  I felt bad and was trying to instruct J on how to adjust the settings on the camera.  Then go over and check the shot he got, readjust, try to get Pumpkin to look or smile.  We had some issues with overexposure, so this is the best we got. But hey, its a picture of me and my babies!

And just because I could never leave you with just one picture........

This face cracks me up!
