Celebrating the 4th

Whew! I'm exhausted, but in a wonderful way.  We have had a spectacular July 4th, celebrating our nations freedom.  We started out on Sunday with a patriotic service.  Then our church held a July 4th Celebration Fellowship complete with BBQ and all the trimmings and  a fantastic concert by a group called Southland.

Why yes I am a Goober and made my family dress for the festivities!

After lunch we headed home to rest for a while and then some friends came over for pizza and a card game - which never happened.  So typical... we start talking and time slips away before we ever get started on our favorite card game, which can take hours.  Oh well, maybe next time.

Today we had 32 people at our house!  We love to have our family and friends over.  We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs for lunch.

A few of our fabulous grill masters

The pool was occupied all day and some fierce baseball type game ensued for most of the afternoon. I think the kids and adults who participated were all worn out.

All the new babies!

And of course, you just can't have a 4th of July celebration without fireworks.

Watching the show!

J always overdoes it when it comes to the pyrotechnics.  There were people all over shooting some fabulous fireworks and we enjoyed ours as well as several nearby neighbors.  We had one mishap however.  One of the lit fireworks fell over and shot toward J, Bubba and several others who were handling them.  They started running and the next thing we know they are shooting toward the house and then keep turning and head straight to where we were all sitting. Of course, we all jumped up grabbing babies and kids and run.  Thankfully no one was hurt but it sure made our heart skip a beat!
