Getting The Call

We had been presenting to Birth Moms for about 6-7 weeks.  On Tuesday Aug 20, we were waiting to hear from a baby girl we had presented on. Courtney called me to tell me the mom had changed her mind and she had presented us on another baby girl and we should have a decision later that day.  Before the call ended she said " Would you guys be open to a baby boy with a heart condition?" I told her we most certainly would consider it and to send me more info.

Courtney needed a decision from us by that evening, as the birth mom would be making her decision over the next day or two.  We told her to count us in!  On Wednesday we anxiously awaited an answer. Around 5 pm, I texted Courtney just to see if she thought we would get an answer that day.  Just as I expected, she said she believed it would be Thursday. About 30 minutes later, as Pumpkin, Bubba and I arrived at church for supper, my phone rang... it was Courtney!  (Just a side note... every time Courtney calls it triggers heart racing nervousness... could this be THE CALL?!)  "She loved your profile book and wants to talk by phone ASAP!"

One hour later, sitting in kiddie sized chairs in an unused preschool room at church, we sat anxiously awaiting the call.  Our phone rang and the social worker introduced us and the conversation began and all the fears melted away.  Our conversation was easy and we found lots to talk about.  When the call was over I checked my phone and we had talked for an entire hour! About 5 minutes later the social worker called us back and said that C loved us and definitely wanted to place the baby with us!

You can imagine the phone calls and texts that ensued afterward to inform our family and friends.  J and I headed over to choir practice and sat down.  In just a few minutes our Minister of Music, who knew what was going on, looked over at me and said "Well?"  And we got to announce that we would be having a baby boy in just a couple of weeks!
