After a long sleepless night of pain, I got up this morning and headed to the doctor. He concluded that I have Gout! Well, I can tell you this much, Gout is definately painful! Thankfully it is in my left hand because right now i have limited use of the entire hand. Although I will say that the anti-inflamatory is helping already.
Of course, you know me. There is a funny side to all this. I look a mess beacause I can't do my hair like I normally do. This morning, J helped me dry my hair. The idea was for him to hold it while I used my good hand to style. Well, by the time it was over, he was laughing so hard he was crying. I, on the other hand, was not so amused. First he aimed the hairdryer blowing behind my head. After I corrected that position, he was holding it too low so I was trying to bend to get under it. Then he got it so close to me and it was burning. "Your gonna have me in the burn unit, if you don't move back!" I told him in much frustration. He was laughing his head off! But I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband who is always there for me! Its amazing how much you need that thumb to do everything! Sure makes you appreciate your limbs!
And I have a confession to make, I have trouble swallowing pills. I know, I know... such a baby. It has always been a problem for me. I think I was too young the first time they tried to get me to take a pill and it messed me up! Applesauce and a knife are my solution. But guess what... no tablet here.... its a capsule...... no cutting it up! And I have to take it 3 times a day for 7 days.
So far, I have ended up in tears everytime I have to take it, but my hopes are that by the end of the week, I will have made an improvement in my pill swallowing abilities. Needless to say, I would appreciate your prayers this week for my pill swallowing! In fact, it is now time for another dose so I am already praying!
Here's a picture of my very swollen thumb!
