Therapy Needed

Hello.

My name is Amy and I am a perfectionist.

Like I've said before Christmas Cards are a BIG deal to me. I plan what to wear for the picture, take hours critiquing and editing pictures, etc.  This year I had no idea what we would wear.  On Saturday the weather was nice so I thought we'd better get a picture if we wanted to do it outdoors before the weather turned really cold again. I decided to go with a red theme and built it around what Miss Priss had.  One big problem, my first born had nothing!  My neighbor happened to call me while she was out shopping so I asked her to check the men's department for a red shirt or sweater.  She found one and brought it home to me.

Now I just had to break the news to my family that we were going to take pictures.  See they get so excited despise doing the family pictures. Now here is the clincher; I decided to do this right before the SEC Championship game came on and friends were coming over to watch!  Not a wise move on my part, but it was the only window of opportunity we had. We spent 20 minutes or so making pictures, all while Miss Priss was fussy.  Joy of all joys!  So I finally called it a rap and we went in and enjoyed the game. (War Eagle)

For the last few years, I have designed my own card using my scrap booking  software.  This year I was going to throw in the towel and just order a pre-designed card.  I mean, I have a newborn right?  I can't possibly do everything! I was so pumped about the Shutterfly deal and found several that I loved!  But....(there is always a but) I realized that they would not be delivered until around the 16th or later, unless I wanted to pay an excessive amount of money for overnight shipping.  Not happening.  So, I decided to look into some that could be printed locally like Walmart, CVS or Walgreens.  I found some I liked and upload the best picture I had of us.  (I wasn't very pleased with any of our pictures). Nothing was clicking with me. I just couldn't find "the one". Ugh! I spent time the next two days pouring over card possibilities and you know what?  I ended up designing my own... I obviously have an incurable disease.  But I finally got it done and the cards will be delivered today! (I'm still not 100% sold on the picture, but it was the best I could do without waiting another week to try again.)  I will be sharing the card next week when I participate in a Christmas Card Tour.

I have another confession, its not just cards I obsess about.  I love to decorate my house for Christmas.  Last year, after moving in our new house I wanted every room to reflect Christmas, and a lot of it did.  It's not going to happen this year. I finally got 4 of my 5 trees up and decorated.  The only one left is H's small tree, but he says he really doesn't care if I do it or not.  Truth is it wouldn't take 10 minutes to do, but I wanted to transition it to a sports related theme and haven't found enough ornaments. So it may or may not get done.  At this point I haven't put out a nativity or any other decorations other than trees and stockings / mantel decorations. And it will be o.k.

Miss Priss is doing well. She is beginning to notice things more and we have heard a few coos from her as well.  I still look at her in awe and can't believe she is actually here! We had our first post-placement home visit this week with our social worker and it went well.  We will continue to do that once a month until the adoption is final.
